The employee will be the key member of the White Star team tasked with driving IT excellence for the company. They will lead the active creation, advancement and implementation of the company’s technology strategy and manage the company’s IT needs. The primary objective of this role will be to operate White Star’s IT department as a service to the whole team, with a customer-oriented approach, aimed toward improving the IT capabilities of everyone at White Star.

You will be responsible for:
  • Manage the development, deployment, operation, maintenance, upgrading and support of the company’s IT systems. This will include cloud-based solutions, servers, PCs, software apps, telephones and equipment.
  • Develop a training program for system administrators and end user users to ensure they are using the software effectively. Motivate the users to utilize clever functions in our software that make their work more efficient.
  • Meet regularly with executive and senior management as well as systems users to obtain a strong understanding of the business’s needs, and set IT goals for the future
  • Work with colleagues to identify and deploy IT based improvements to internal services that increase user effectiveness and encourage innovation
  • Provide expert advice and manage the process of upgrading, installing and maintaining systems, equipment, and software.
  • Manage IT staff and consultants, with responsibility for hiring, evaluating, and training
  • Develop standard operating procedures, policies and best practices, ensuring written procedures and guidelines are prepared and provided to the IT staff and all end-users.
  • Keeping up-to-date with the most recent technologies and advising on what new technological solutions and their implementation will meet business and systems requirements
  • Negotiate with suppliers of hardware and software to secure the best value, and be responsible for contracting consultants and making service agreements
  • Propose budgets for the annual IT needs and one-off IT projects, with regular review and reporting of the actual against the budget
  • Identify security vulnerabilities and solutions to eliminate them to increase data security
  • Microsoft products strategy – continue improvement of O365 products utilization. Report and improve productivity of WSRE Employees This involves the points below.
  • Improve Collaboration - Identifying best practices and educating users on how to use Collaboration functions in the O365 system. For example – Notes shared with users on meetings, sharing files on One Drive in lieu of large e-mail attachments, Teams messaging services, Companywide bulletin boards, etc.
  • IT Standards - Establish and update System Standards that make it easy for the users, but maintainable for the Administrators. This covers a very broad range of needs, from how to set up meetings, how to store documents, setting user rights, naming resources in offices (e.g. printer’s, meeting rooms, so they don’t conflict with others in the region wide system). Set standards for Document Management.
  • Business Continuity Planning (Czech Rep., Romania, Hungary) – participate in the selection and deployment of a backup site for all critical IT Systems and applications.
  • Construction Cloud System – managing implementation from IT perspective. Setting new standards and support new processes design and solution implementation
  • IT Security – eliminate all weak points in Network, Clients, Cloud, VPN, Mobile devices, servers and other IT Services. Mitigate risks, plan improvement actions.
The ideal candidate should have:
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Proven experience as an IT manager or similar role (3-5 years) in an international environment.
  • Able to quickly analyze a problem and provide an effective solution in a fast-paced environment.
  • Dedicated to customer service and be able to lead a team of individuals by example.
  • Sound understanding of IT systems (hardware/software), networks etc. and knowledge of current trends in information technology
  • BSc/BA in computer science, engineering or relevant field.
  • Ability to make presentations and train colleagues.
  • English language – ability to communicate at an advanced level.
